The Scottish Sensory Hub (SSH) provide a platform for anyone in Scotland with lived experience of sensory Impairments. Launched in 2021 it draws experience from Deafscotland (formerly the Scottish Council on Deafness) and SCOVI (Scottish Council on Visual Impairment). Founded to provide a strategic forum for cross-sensory input into policy and practice, the SSH conducts lived experience research, co-design, and consultation work. It acts as a bridge between the Scottish Government, public bodies, third sector, and individuals, enshrining a human rights-based approach for all.
The SSH range of engagement:
Visual Impairment Network for Children and Young People (VINCYP)
Hearing Impairment Network for Children and Young People (HINCYP)
Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) Advisory Group for children with disabilities and long-term conditions
The Hub also provides the Secretariat for the Cross Party Group on Deafness, and is a member of the Cross Party Group on Visual Impairment.
